General Surgeion Joins Medical Staff at Ocala Health System

Ocala, FL (May 3, 2010) - Steven Khalil, MD, has joined the medical staff at Ocala Health System – Ocala Regional Medical Center and West Marion Community Hospital.

Dr. Khalil, will perform general surgery at both Ocala Regional Medical Center and West Marion Community Hospital. Dr. Khalil comes to Ocala from St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw, MI.  Prior to that he practiced at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL.  He completed his medical education at the Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine in Rootstown, OH and his residency in general surgery at Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, NY. Dr. Khalil also completed a fellowship in surgical trauma and critical care at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY and is currently a captain in the US Army Reserves.

Selected as one of America’s “50 Best Hospitals” Ocala Health System is the health organization which encompasses Ocala Regional Medical Center, a 200-bed facility located in the heart of Ocala, and West Marion Community Hospital, a 70-bed hospital located in West Marion County.
